Dada Vaswani's talk

Heard Dada Vaswani on a TV programme, exhorting the need to cultivate the company of good people. He inter alia underlined that one should avoid the company of degraded/sinful  people at all costs. That made me think on how then the so called bad people get a chance to lift themselves up! Would it not be rather much nobler if we seek out the company of sinners, get into their hearts, and by the sheer strength of our character, reform them to the best of our capacity. An example of that was Buddha, going out all alone, to meet Angulimal, despite the best efforts of his well wishers to prevent him from going alone. Jesus was also  like that.
I have great respect for the Dada and was sure that I must have missed something while hearing the talk( which I could not hear fully), I now feel that what he said perhaps meant only  that in our initial phase of growing up, we should avoid the company of bad people, as that could  tempt us to follow their path. Perhaps he did not mean that we remain away from them throughout our life.
