Vegetarianism- a mark of civilized society

                                                                In the  TV we often see that  when  a young lady is raped in an  obscure office,   people are seen taking out candlelight processions all over the world. In some places they observe mass fasting or silent processions wearing black badges. After these protests  they kill whole lots of young male and female  sheep and chicken to have a satisfying  feast! The agony of these dumb animals is not captured on any camera. The blood, suffocation and barbarism are not worth spending the prime TV time for.

                They say we are social animals. Are we social at all as a class?  The difference between us and other animals is just a matter of a few  details. Does  possessing  a relatively  more developed brain and not having  tails entitle us  to mercilessly massacre  and eat all other animals?  That Christianity allows meat eating is indeed surprising! Who said  that the meek would inherit this world? Our laws hate to allow even euthanasia to humans while animals are reared carefully only to be butured at will.

                The argument that meat is necessary to have strength is just silly. Aren’t elephants vegetarians? Then there is the  argument  that in the primitive jungle days human beings were invariably meat eaters and so it is only natural to expect  the process to continue. Well, quite true. But then don’t go on  trumpeting  all the way that we are now a  highly civilized lot. In those days in the jungles,  women didn’t wear any clothes. Why should they wear anything now? I am sure all the mystique built around those bodies would evaporate in a whiff  if these ladies were to  go the primitive way!
